Jamie Demetrick and Allison Covert are  lifelong horse enthusiasts whose shared passion for Thoroughbreds brought them together in 1996. Raised on Thoroughbred farms, they built careers starting young horses, retraining off-the-track racehorses, and managing breeding operations across British Columbia and Alberta. Influenced deeply by Claudia Cojocar's coaching and wisdom, they developed a thoughtful and adaptable approach to horsemanship.

Over the years, Jamie and Allison bred, raced, reclaimed, and retrained numerous horses.  Some achieved success on the racetrack, others transitioned into show careers, and many eventually returned home to retire under their care.  During their time managing Tod Mountain Thoroughbreds the farm enjoyed many achievements, including national breeder recognition and successful ventures at sales.

While managing large operations, they also maintained their own property in Kelowna and later leased Jamie’s family farm in Coldstream to establish Pheasant Run. There, with family support, they prepared yearlings for sale, foaled mares, and expanded their program—purchasing weanlings and mares from Kentucky for themselves and clients. Their consignments quickly rose to prominence, producing sale toppers and earning leading consignor titles.

Despite the uncertainty and disruption of the COVID pandemic, Jamie and Allison continued to strengthen and adapt their program, branching out into raising sport horses alongside their racehorses. In 2021, they sold their Kelowna property and purchased the Coldstream farm, further investing in the long-term vision of their operation. Alongside their racing and breeding program, a return to coaching and training in the show horse world brought the journey full circle, blending their roots in both racing and sport horses.

As racing continues to evolve in Western Canada, Jamie and Allison remain flexible and forward-thinking, committed to the well-being of the horses and to the betterment of the sport. They are especially excited to be standing Bakken this year as the next chapter of their program unfolds.
